Serving our area with NPR news and special programs, as well as local cultural programs, jazz, gospel and R&B for over 20 years, WRVS-FM, a 41,000 watt powerhouse is a listener supported; non-commercial, public radio station is a public service of Elizabeth City State University.
WRVS-FM 89.9 will became the first radio station in Elizabeth City and one of the first radio stations in North Carolina to broadcast using HD Radio TM technology.
As a Listener, support is WRVS-FM's single largest and most important source of funding is you, the listener. Your pledge helps to bring you all of the programs you enjoy on WRVS-FM. Those programs include NPR shows such as Like It Is, Morning Edition, Inspiration Across America, News & Notes With Ed Gordon, and more. But WRVS-FM does not stop there. We keep listeners informed with original programming such as Movements and the “Award-Winning” Issues & Answers hosted by our very own DJ, Randy Jones.

W18BB-TV is Elizabeth City State University’s low power television station broadcasting on closed-circuit Channel 15, Adelphia Cable Channel 22 and soon-to-be MediaCom Channel 49. W18BB-TV is dedicated to producing quality programming designed to entertain, educate and inform the communities of Elizabeth City State University and the city of Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
Our ultimate goals are to increase viewership, provide educational programming for present and future Elizabeth City State University students, create long-term partnerships/ sponsorships, establish brand loyalty, and to entertain and inform our viewers.
W18BB-TV has steadily increased and diversified its program line-up through the implementation of more locally produced programming, the inclusion of national networks like The Black Family Channel and The Annenberg /CPB Network, and our latest upcoming addition – The America One Network. In doing so, W18BB-TV is making an aggressive attempt to more effectively reach to the Albemarle region by providing programs that speak to its diverse audience base. W18BB-TV and WRVS-FM, together, are enabling this region to find its voice, and to be heard and seen in new ways that fashion the preservation and expansion of democracy.
